Alt text for every image in your store
PS Alt Text finds the images in your Shopify store that have no alternative text and writes it for them, using a vision model that actually looks at the picture.
Alt text is what a screen reader announces in place of an image, and what search engines read. Most stores have plenty of images without it, and writing it by hand for a catalogue of any size is nobody's afternoon.
How it works
- Scheduled scans work through your media library on a schedule you choose, in your own timezone.
- New products can be described as they are created or edited, if you switch that on.
- On demand — scan the newest images or the entire library whenever you like, and watch it progress.
- In your voice — set language, style and length, or write the instruction yourself.
By default it only fills in alt text that is missing, so it will not touch descriptions you have already written.
Installing
PS Alt Text installs from the Shopify App Store and runs inside your Shopify admin. New stores get a free trial allowance to see the output before paying, and billing goes through Shopify.
Privacy, briefly
The app asks only for permission to read and write products and files. It has no access to your customers or orders, stores nothing about your shoppers, runs no analytics, and erases your data when you uninstall. The Privacy Policy spells all of that out.
